Course / Workshop Description :
Discover how to capture the essence of people through drawing and watercolor! In this course, you will explore the fundamentals of portraiture, from foundational drawing techniques to expressive watercolor painting. Designed for beginners, the class provides a supportive and encouraging environment to develop your skills, experiment creatively, and create vibrant, emotive portraits.

  • Apply watercolor techniques to paint skin, eyes, hair, and backgrounds with confidence.

Week 2 – Drawing Facial Features
Week 3 – Watercolor Fundamentals
Week 4 – Color Mixing for Skin Tones
Week 5 – From Drawing to Painting
Week 6 – Developing Depth and Expression
Week 7 – Details and Refinement
Week 8 – Final Project and Review

Prérequis

Drawing and painting for beginners— no previous experience required. Adolescents & Adults.



Matériel requis

Material needed:

  • A set of watercolor brushes in various sizes

  • Student or junior-grade brushes are perfectly acceptable

  • Gaphite pencils: HB and 2B
  • Erasers

Paper

  • Watercolor blocks or sheets, 300 gsm

  • Synthetic or cotton paper are both fine

  • Examples (not mandatory):

    • Canson XL

    • Canson Montval

    • Hahnemühle (hot pressed)

    • Winsor & Newton

    • Arches

    • Any other good-quality watercolor paper

Watercolor Paints

  • Watercolor set in pans or tubes

    • Suggested brands: Winsor & Newton, Van Gogh, or similar

  • Alternatively (or additionally): a basic primary-color set:

    • Lemon Yellow Hue

    • Ultramarine

    • Permanent Rose
