In this course, you will learn the fundamentals of gouache painting. Topics will include value relationships, colour theory, colour mixing, brushwork, proportion and measurement, composition, and finishing details. Through a variety of exercises and still-life studies, you will explore different approaches to working with gouache while developing stronger observational skills and learning to interpret and simplify what you see.

Course Structure
The course is centred on painting still lifes to build familiarity and confidence with the gouache medium. Students will explore different painting methods, including opaque and transparent applications, layering techniques, and a variety of paper surfaces. By the end of the course, participants will have completed approximately four to six finished paintings while developing a strong foundation in gouache painting.
