This course offers an introduction to drawing the human figure from life, grounded in observational skills, structural construction, and fundamental anatomical knowledge. The primary media used in this course are graphite and sepia pencils. Each session will focus on essential principles, including:
• Gesture & Flow: Capturing the energy, movement, and overall rhythm of the pose.
• Proportion & Construction: Understanding volume and form while building the figure step by step.
• Value & Form Modeling: Using light and shadow to create a convincing sense of three-dimensionality.
• Anatomical Landmarks: Identifying key skeletal and muscular structures to enhance realism and guide accurate observation of the model.
Through a combination of quick sketches and longer, sustained poses, you will develop the confidence to depict the human body with both dynamism and precision. This course is ideal for artists seeking to build a solid foundation or refresh their core figure-drawing skills in a supportive learning environment.
