Course Description: Embark on a journey where the gentle strokes of watercolour, vibrant hues, and delicate textures build up flowers and leaves. Botanical illustration consistently strives to portray a plant’s true form and appearance accurately and authentically. During this workshop, participants will acquire a variety of fundamental watercolour techniques. Additionally, you will gain insights into colour mixing for precise rendering of flowers and leaves, employing measurement and comprehension of perspective. Finally, you will create a complete botanical illustration, from start to finish.

Prérequis

No prior knowledge is required. This workshop is well-suited for individuals who are beginners or have diverse art backgrounds.

Matériel requis

Basic Materials:

  • Graphite pencil, eraser, sharpener.

Brushes:

  • A set of brushes of different sizes for watercolour. It can be junior or student brushes.

Paper:

  • Watercolour blocks with 300gsm, which can be synthetic or cotton (Canson XL, Canson Montval, or hot pressed Hahnemühle, Winsor & Newton, arches, and others).

Watercolor paints:

  • Watercolour set in pans or tubes (Winsor & Newton, Van Gogh or others)
  • Or/ and a set of primary Colours - Lemon Yellow Hue, Ultramarine, and Permanent Rose
